Formula for Success

The strategies for success on YouTube that work for other types of content may not necessarily work for educational channels. Here, I will share some techniques for achieving success with educational videos.

Consistency

Consistency means regularly uploading content to your channel. If you ask any successful YouTuber, they will tell you how crucial consistency is. It not only helps your students remember you and your channel but also assists YouTube in promoting your videos to a wider audience.

To maintain consistency, content creators often allocate a specific time or day for uploading videos. Even if they have created many videos, they stick to their predetermined schedule and publish a video at the appointed time.

However, for a new educational channel, this may not apply as much because educational videos target a smaller audience. Moreover, educational videos may not have a timeless appeal. Therefore, I recommend that as soon as your educational video is ready, you should go ahead and publish it.

Afterward, based on the comments you receive on the video, you can create more videos and let your audience know that you answer questions at a particular time or day. This way, your video gets more views as soon as you upload it.

Start with 100 Videos

If your goal is to earn from YouTube, you need to understand the rules for earning from YouTube. To be eligible for YouTube's Partner Program, you need at least 4,000 watch hours on your channel and a minimum of 1,000 subscribers within the last 365 days. There is now also a newer early-access tier (500 subscribers plus 3,000 watch hours in the last 90 days), and a Shorts path (10 million Shorts views in the last 90 days).

Therefore, my suggestion is to refrain from creating your YouTube channel until you have a substantial number of videos. I would recommend not starting your channel until you have at least 100 videos. If you find that creating 100 videos takes too much time, you can start with 50 or even 20 videos.

However, this rule doesn't always apply to educational channels. For instance, if you are creating videos for competitive exam preparation, the content in current affairs videos may become outdated. In such cases, you may need to upload videos as soon as they are ready.

Stick to Your Presentation Style

Different types of presentations require different setups, and setting up a presentation style can be time-consuming. Changing your presentation style means that you will need to alter your setup, resulting in a significant waste of time.

Additionally, your subscribers have chosen your channel because they like your content and your presentation style. Changing your presentation style may not sit well with your subscribers, and they might not enjoy your videos as much.

Therefore, my advice is to choose a presentation style that is easy to set up and allows you to create videos quickly when you start making videos. Stick to your chosen presentation style until you establish yourself as a better educator.

I have explained various setups for creating videos in a different chapter of this book. You can refer to that chapter to understand which setup is best for you and which software and hardware you should use.
